Figurine for a traditional shooting fair
Wood, 1573
Back in 1573 a huge crossbow shooting took place at a square called ‘Schießanger’ (today ‘Platz der Völkerfreundschaft’). This event was called ‘Fürstenschießen’, i.e. that a lot of princes (called ‘Fürsten’ in German) from Saxony and other principalities from all over Germany took part. On this occasion this figurine was made. Its arms are moved by the integrated mechanics and therefore shows hits and misses.
